CONFERENCE FACILITIES

Set in a modern, landscaped office park only 20 minutes north of Sandton and just off the N1 freeway, the Direct Mail Centre is a convenient one-stop shop for all your Direct Mail requirements.

Step inside the Direct Mail Centre and you’ll realise that knowledge is not the only thing on offer! You’ll appreciate the private workstations, meeting rooms, conference area accommodating around 30 delegates, as well as a spacious exhibition area. Catering can be provided to order, ranging from tea, coffee and other non-alcoholic beverages three times a day to hot or cold finger/fork lunches. You'll also have access to copying, faxing and telephone facilities, all at a reasonable cost.

Please note that although Direct Mail Centre a day venue, a multitude of surrounding hotels in Midrand offer excellent overnight accommodation.

Admail

 

All addressed mail including a SAPO approved response device, in a minimum consignment of 1000 articles per size or mass category, of which the content is solely of an advertising or promotional nature. It must not however include any other additional items relating to previous business with the client, e.g. invoices, monthly statements or reference to outstanding payments.

It can assist to

> Distribute information about special offers and also send competition details.

Benefits

It is the most cost-effective way of reaching your target market personally. It enables you to build a one-to-one relationship with existing and prospective customers. It allows you to measure the response and success of your advertising campaign.

 

Promomail

This is addressed mail (including teaser/advance mailings - advising a customer of the impending arrival of a promotional item) in a minimum consignment of 1000 articles per size, of which the content is solely of an advertising or promotional nature. Like Admail it must also not include any other additional items relating to previous business with the client, e.g. invoices, monthly statements or reference to outstanding payments. A response device is however NOT a pre-requisite for this product.

Magmail

All addressed mail of which the content is publications or printed matter intended for public sale or distribution. Designed with a unique logo to address the specific needs of the magazine and newspaper industry.

 

 

 

Infomail

Infomail involves the distribution of unaddressed mail of a promotional nature. This includes pamphlets, brochures, area newspapers, trade samples, etc. subject to certain specifications.

OUR ROLE

The Direct Mail Centre was developed by the South African Post Office to assist corporates and small & medium-sized enterprises in using Direct Mail as part of their advertising and communications campaigns. The DMC is equipped to offer the following:

Presentations

We regularly invite guest speakers and industry leaders to share their expertise. Seminars cover important developments and topics. These seminars are very popular and attendance is highly recommended. They equip small businesses to compile their smaller-budget direct marketing campaigns and cover:

Training Sessions

These sessions will truly provide an insight into the world of Direct Mail: how it works, why it is so successful, how it is growing and how it can help expand your business.

We continue to spread the word on Direct Mail through presentations to relevant institutions such as the AAA School of Advertising. We work with the Direct Marketing Association of South Africa on training and other related matters.

Workshops

These workshops will provide a hands-on approach to putting a direct mail package together, from planning to production and beyond.

The Direct Mail Centre’s library carries a comprehensive collection of the classic as well as the latest marketing publications and textbooks and past campaign samples. DIRECT MARKETING LISTS

Targeting is the key component in any successful Direct Mail campaign, it helps with:

Customer retention: building loyal, trusting and personal relationships.
Customer acquisition: for gaining new customers.
Regaining customers: convincing them that you can satisfy their needs

The database management area of the DMC focuses on:

Campaign Management

This is one of the largest areas of this division. The database management team is responsible for providing targeted client lists for Direct Mail campaigns to both internal and external customers.

Since fulfilment is a crucial element of the Direct Mail value chain, the DMC is able to perform a response analysis for any campaign which went through the postal stream. The service goes further and can assist clients with the creation of new databases by providing them with data capturing services.

Other services include

> Maintenance of current databases - e.g. government dept., schools, businesses, etc.
> Creation of campaign- related databases.
> Data cleaning/mining.
> Market segmentation - broader market can be segmented by census data (education level, family size, income brands, etc.)
> Geo-demographic mapping - plotting onto a country map to add meaning to the data (Unaddressed DM campaigns can still be targeted using this database).

South Africa’s Postal Delivery Database (PDD)

The Postal Delivery Database (PDD) is compiled from Individuals that have registered for the use of a postbox in South Africa. It is updated monthly with box change details as well as annually when everyone needs to renew their use of the box. The PDD details consist of ID Numbers, Box address and residential Addresses, Telephone and Cell Numbers, as well as e-mail addresses. This PDD is growing with the introduction of individuals that are registering their residential addresses for postage purposes.  The PDD is segmentable down to Income per suburb and Emerging Market segments.

Usage Rules


The PDD’s Unique Reference Number (PDDURN) must be printed on all outgoing mail pieces. This helps SAPO to track NIXIES (return to sender mail items). This number can be bar-coded or printed above the addressee in the address, but must be eligible through the window, if one is used. All nixie mail pieces must be returned to SAPO or alternatively, an electronic file can be supplied with the PDD’s PDDURN and the relevant nixie, return to sender reason code. The user must sign the PDD’s List Usage and Terms of Agreement, as well as have the proposed Mail Pieces approved before any names will be made available.
